TRON Legacy

This movie was mind bending when it originally came out in 1982, and it looks like the sequel will be just as good if not better. I may have to swallow a hand of pain killers and brave the insanity that is the current 3D movie craze to see it on a big screen.

Marathon

For no particular reason yesterday, other than wanting something to fill the day, I watched the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy. Extended version of course. Weighing in at a svelte 682 minutes running time (that’s eleven hours and 22 minutes), the extended edition more than filled the day for me. I didn’t get started [...]

Too Many Movies

It was a long four day weekend for me. I watched too many movies.
Ghost
Still as tender and beautiful a love story as when I first saw it. This was one of the films I had rented for Michele and I to watch the day she died. The final scene left me in tears today.
The Rock
Not [...]

Movies, Movies, and More Movies

With the primary Tivo on the fritz we’ve been watching movies. Lots of movies.
The Corporation
A very engrossing look at corporations in America and their impact on the lives of people both here and abroad. One of the scariest things this documentary revealed is the use of Prosilac to increase dairy milk production – even though [...]

More Weeked Movies

Kung Fu Hustle
A riot of a movie; zany, filled with stunts, and surreal. Think Bugs Bunny meets Matrix meets Jackie Chan.
Alexander
Long, slow, tedious. The story plods along and is hard to follow by virtue of flashbacks. The sound quality is such that you can barely understand the lines being spoken by the actors. Did I [...]

Recent Movies

In what is rapidly becoming a regular feature around here, I present to you, dear reader, a list of recently watched films.
The Sound of Music
We added this classic musical to our collection this weekend. It maybe one of the best movies ever made with stunning scenery, outstanding acting, incredible music, and villinous Nazis for drama. [...]

Weekend Films

We didn’t watch as many movies this weekend as usual, but we did see a couple of good ones.
The Adventures of Robin Hood
The original Errol Flynn version, campy, over-acted and under rated. Even with Kevin Costner’s wooden performing style I prefer the newer one to this one, but it’s worth seeing.
The Godfather
Your collection is not [...]

More Movies

Recently we’ve watched:
In Good Company
A light-hearted look at corporate takeover and employment angst. Somewhat predictable, but funny and enjoyable all the same.
Hostage
I read this book several years ago, and once again, the movie was lacking. When every the screenplay doesn’t involve the author of the book you know you are in trouble. Most disturbing was [...]
