You also get information about the battery-loadcycles (how often did you fully load your battery), the current charger (coconutBattery even warns you if [...]

iTunes allows you to back up your purchased media, in fact you can make a back up of your entire library. However, since most of my non-iTunes purchased media is already on CD, I don’t see a need to back up the iTunes version. My iTunes purchases include the introductory mini-series and first three seasons [...]

Most technology reviews happen shortly after the hardware or software is released, and the reviewer has had only a limited time to tinker with the product. Publishing is not without a sense of one-upsmanship, and getting your review to press first is the only way to win that game.
Here at Zanshin.net World Headquarters, I’ve [...]

Over the weekend I decided to get (yet another) computer bag. Finding one that suits me, carries all my electronic toys, and looks good is not as easy as you’d think. Witness the FIVE other computer bags I now have in the closet. They were all good bags; each did what they were supposed to [...]

An argument could be made that my Powerbook contributed to my, ah, abrupt departure from my last engagement. It was after all the base of my explorations in to TCP/IP networking, ssh, proxies, and NMap.
Curbing my enthusiasm and curiosity will be key in not running afoul of network access restrictions in the future. That, or [...]

This week marks the one year anniversary of our switch from Windows to Macintosh. Michele and I ventured into the Apple store in St. Louis on January 11, 2003 and haven’t looked back ever since.
She is very satisfied with her 17″ iMac and I love my 15″ Titanium PowerBook. Within days of getting the new [...]

I set a new uptime record earlier this week. Until I goofed my Powerbook had been running for over three weeks.
Mind you this machine makes a daily commute with me to work. I just shut the lid, unplug the mouse, and ethernet, and take off. Amazing.

Michele and I took the Apple plunge this past weekend. On Saturday, pretty much on the spur of the moment, we headed south for St. Louis and the Apple store there. Initially we were just going to look and play, as the salesman in the Springfield store wasn’t helpful. Once in St. Louis however, things [...]
