The primary machine at work is a Mac Pro running Mac OS X 10.6.2 with 2 x 2.66 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon processors, and 4 GB of 667 MHz DDR2 RAM. This machine has [...]

In the early 1990’s, when I was still using OS/2 as my primary operating system, I attended a day-long demonstration about the platform. Dear Mr. Architect,
Please design and build me a house. I am not quite sure of what I need, so you should use your discretion. My house should have [...]

Om Malik has started a new meme, this time about freeware or shareware Mac applications “that have helped you get the most out of your Mac.”
Here’s my list:
X-Pad: A notepad with state. No files to save or open, just type and it is saved for you. As an incorrigible note taker this gem has saved [...]

Yesterday I upgraded my Powerbook to Panther (10.3.2) in a relatively painless 2 hour process. After the process was completed I was having trouble with my copy of CodeTek’s Virtual Desktop application.
I was using a 2.x version and knew that there was a 3.0 beta out. I went to their site and got the 3.0 [...]

Ever since switching over to Macintosh last January I have thoroughly enjoyed using Safari as my primary browser. My only complaint is Safari’s inability to view PDF files inline.

This browser plugin makes viewing PDF files served on the Internet easy once again.
