Great Googly Moogly!
Yesterday I put up a short posting about wistful thinking, wondering what it would be like to have more than a handful of visitors to my site in a day (or week, or month). Today I know what that feels like thanks to the generosity and kindness of one man.
This morning, as usual, [...]

Like any self-respecting nerd with a website, I have a statistics package that tracks visits and page views on my site, and produces graphs and tables and other suitably nerdy artifacts for me to drool over. My package of choice is Mint, from Shaun Inman. (Check out the excellent review by Shawn Blanc.)
My visit numbers [...]

Somewhere in the last posting, or two, I crossed the three hundred thousand word mark on this site. The little counter at the top of the archive page tells me so.
That’s a lot of words.
Amazing what one guy, with no real purpose other than airing his emotional laundry, can do in six or seven years.
(Keep [...]

This entry here at zanshin.net world domination headquarters is the thousandth since we starting counting back in December 1999. Clever readers may note that the posting URL actually says one thousand fifty three. Turns out that Movable Type, the content management system employed by el presidente for life Mark, uses the same pool of numbers [...]

seventy pounds of weight gained

In just over a month (December 6 – January 10) I’ve had 500 unique visitors to this site view 941 pages. This may not sound like a lot, but for a weblog that is largely the emotional ramblings of a middle-aged philosopher-hacker, I think this is a rather nice number.
The new statistics are a truer [...]

On the archive page of this site, towards the top, is a running total of the words written here. Before this posting there were 199,050 words of content contained here. Somewhere in one of the next few postings will be word 200,000.
It is hard for me to believe that I have written this much in [...]

In the past year my little web site has seen approximately 53,500 visitors. I’m currently averaging about 145 visits per day, or 4,350 per month. Pretty amazing for a site that focuses on my mental state, obscure software, and left leaning politics.
For the the three of you who venture all the way to the bottom [...]

My statistics page tells me that zanshin.net has been viewed just over 30,000 times since late September. I’m averaging about 5,000 page views a month.
That’s pretty cool.
What it doesn’t account for is the number of “page views” that are the result of referrer spambots. Even using the “rel=nofollow” tag convention subscribed to by all the [...]
