In the seven or so years that I used Moveable Type as my content management system I managed to create 42 categories. Some were catch-all groupings that ended up holding dozens or even hundreds of postings. Others held just a handful or entries, or, in some cases, only one entry.
Switching to Wordpress allowed [...]

The visual editor provided with Wordpress is actually an implementation of TinyMCE. Contained in the Wordpress implementation is coding that checks the browser type. The coding following at least one of the Safari checks strips out all paragraph tags (<p>). This means that any entry you either edit or create using Safari turns in to [...]

I’ve fiddled around with the header image, finally getting the original image in its entirety once again. The cropped image was nice enough, but I prefer the one I’ve had for most of the past decade. The image is a slice of an old Corel wallpaper called Autumn Coast, which I’ve misplaced. [...]

I receive a fair amount of traffic due to some Google searches, and I have posted comments on a couple of sites that generate a few links per week. I didn’t want [...]

My site lives on the long tail of the Internet. The long tail, in this case, is a reference to a power curve. Unlike a Bell curve, a power curve is what happens when a very few things have most of what is being charted, while a great many things have very little [...]

The colophon has been updated for the first time in a year, and I’ve removed the script that displayed random titles on the home page. Henceforth the only title will be, “zanshin.net: because not enough sites start with the letter Z.”
Also, I’ve been cleaning up the tag order on some of the ancillary pages, [...]

I’ve cleaned up the footer presentation by removing the links to two older forms of the syndication feed. The only feed I am currently supporting is the 2.0 specification. Also, I fixed a display error where the footer was displaying outside of the page boundaries on individual posting pages.
Boring stuff, but necessary.

Somehow I completely forgot about and missed the eleventh anniversary of zanshin.net. The Whois record shows that this site was registered on February 20, 1996.
The nearly 1200 entries here (most since 2000) catalog just a fraction of what has happened in my life in the intervening 3,989 days.
Here’s to the next eleven years.
