I’ve Been Blanc’d

Feb 12th, 2008 by mark

Great Googly Moogly!

Yesterday I put up a short posting about wistful thinking, wondering what it would be like to have more than a handful of visitors to my site in a day (or week, or month).  Today I know what that feels like thanks to the generosity and kindness of one man.

This morning, as usual, I clicked refresh on the Mint tab to see what my total was for yesterday.  I nearly fell off my chair when the number was nearly a hundred visits higher than normal.  I did fall off my chair when I realized those visits had all happened between 10 pm and midnight.  And I was beside myself when I saw that today’s visits, hour by hour, are greater than I normally get in 24 hours.

Holy mackerel.

Thank you Mr. Blanc.  Your random act of kindness has pasted a smile on my face that won’t soon go away.  Domo arigato gozaimasu.

So, Mint can count higher than zero. Hmm. I’m just starting out with my blog. I’m using it mostly to learn about CSS and web design. More and more, I’m learning there are a lot of Mac nerds out there that seem to share the same interests.

@Kevin – The Mac nerd community is large and strong. You could do far worse than to look at Shawn’s site for great content and great ideas about focusing your content.

Looks like two green couches make for people of kindness :) Gotta love good-hearted nerds with a sense of humor!

Enjoy it Mark. I had Shawn link to my blog almost before I’d taken it out of the bubble wrap. It was a good feeling to see people reading my work.

And I agree with some of the comments on your wistful post – focus on your content. Produce good work and the traffic will come. Write about your passions and show people who you are. Good luck!

The focus on content is a nobrainer, and Shawn’s blog is a great inspiration in that case. Good luck keeping these up these visitorstats Mark. ;-)
